Philip Geromont | Director of Deneys Reitz
Philip Geromont (French avocat and South African attorney) is a Director of Deneys Reitz, having previously practised from 1989 to 1994 in a well-known Paris firm specialising in maritime law.
Philip has experience in all areas of corporate and commercial law, with an emphasis on foreign investment in South Africa/ Francophone Africa, competition law (global mergers), exchange control, international trade and business, and mergers and acquisitions. He has acted for a number of large international and South African corporations conducting business in South Africa (in the automotive, aerospace, defence, nuclear, banking, transport and wine sectors) and French speaking Africa (in the banking and oil sectors).
Philip obtained a Master of Law (with distinction) and a post-graduate degree in private international law and international commercial law from the University of Paris (Assas and Sorbonne). He also has a Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Taxation and a Certificate in Advanced Corporate Law and Securities Law from the University of South Africa. He is fluent in English, French, German and Afrikaans.
