Lance Roderick | Director, Deneys Reitz
Lance Roderick is an English qualified solicitor and South African Attorney. He is a Director of Deneys Reitz and part of the Africa Legal team. His main area of expertise is in investment funds and he has extensive experience in offshore hedge funds.
Before joining Africa Legal, Lance spent over eight years working in London. He was a member of the Simmons & Simmons Financial Markets Department, where he primarily advised on alternative fund structures and launches. His clients were mostly institutional and boutique European asset managers and included RAB Asset Management and Lansdowne Capital. He also advised Marshall Wace on the launch of their incubator India hedge fund which was established in Mauritius. Lance subsequently joined The Royal Bank of Scotland Plc, where he was part of the legal team supporting RBS Asset Management Limited, an asset management subsidiary of the Bank. At RBS he was responsible for various investment funds, both alternative and traditional, including a suite of funds of hedge funds, two European UCITS funds, a liquidity (money market) fund and a property fund.
Lance obtained a B.Comm in 1993 and an LLB in 1995, both from the University of Natal. He was admitted as an Attorney in South Africa in 1998 and as a Solicitor in England in 2002.
