Hugh Bisset | Director, Africa Legal and Director, Deneys Reitz Inc.
Hugh Bisset (South African attorney and Zimbabwean legal practitioner) is a Director of both Deneys Reitz and Africa Legal. Hugh is engaged in general corporate and commercial practice in Deneys Reitz.
Hugh joined Deneys Reitz in 1996, having previously practised in Durban for three years and in Zimbabwe for 16 years in private practice.
He has experience in all aspects of corporate and commercial law, and has advised all the major South African banks in various transactions. He has been involved in several project financing transactions including the Bulawayo – Beitbridge Railway (advising the concessionaire); both phases of the Mozal Aluminium smelter project in Mozambique (for Billiton/BHP Billiton and Mozal itself); advising the European Investment Bank in regard to the N4 Platinum Toll Road; and numerous mining projects for Anglo American Platinum Corporation. He has also advised on and drawn documentation for numerous commodity trade financing transactions, for South African banks in Zambia, Malawi, Ivory Coast, Mali and Gabon; and advised several South African corporates on their activities in Zimbabwe.
He holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree from the University of London, conferred in 1972.
