Gavin Noeth | Director of Deneys Reitz
Gavin Noeth is a Director of Deneys Reitz and joint-head of the Project Finance division.
Gavin has extensive experience in the field of project and infrastructure finance, including public private partnerships and South African Export Credit and Foreign Investments Insurance Scheme supported projects.
Gavin has acted for lenders/arrangers and suppliers in numerous export credit financed projects and trade transactions. These ranged through hydroelectric schemes, open-cast and deep level mines, gold recovery, refurbishment of an hotel, a housing project, a fuel station, containers, smelter and other processing plants, breweries, a sugar mill, a railways and a harbour in many African countries, including Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Angola, Kenya, Malawi, Zambia, Uganda, Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ivory Coast, The Congo, Lesotho and Madagascar.
He has been very involved in PPPs since the introduction by the South African government of these partnerships in South Africa. He has been part of and led teams that have, amongst others, advised on toll roads (N3 and N4) and accommodation projects (the National Departments of Education and Public Works, and the Department of Trade and Industry).
Gavin advised the lenders on the Kelvin Power privatisation and is lead South Africa counsel advising the Department of Minerals and Energy on the proposed independent power producer tender for new peaking electricity generation capacity of 1000MW for South Africa.
Gavin has a B Com (Law) and LLB from the University of Pretoria and a LLM (Company Law, Tax and Environmental Law) from the University of South Africa.
