Africa Legal advises FirstRand Bank in the restructuring of Celpay Group
The Celpay Group, a new generation cellphone banking provider with operations in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Zambia, has recently been restructured by FirstRand Bank, with Africa Legal acting as international legal advisers. The deal involved four jurisdictions, with key contracts governed by English law and South African law. Celtel had been acquired from Netherlands-based Celtel International by FirstRand Bank in 2005. Africa Legal also advised on the initial acquisition.
