Deneys Reitz/Africa Legal advise Barclays in ABSA deal
Deneys Reitz acted as lead legal adviser to Barclays Bank PLC on its offer to acquire up to 60% of Absa, South Africa's largest retail bank, for Rand 33 billion (GBP 2.9 billion). The acquisition represents the largest single foreign direct investment into South Africa. Clifford Chance acted as Barclays lead international adviser and Africa Legal, a Deneys Reitz Group company, acted as pan-African adviser.
