As with all emerging markets, Africa can be a complex environment in which to operate, being subject to a wide variety of laws, regulations and business practices.
We have a leading pan-Africa business law practice and have advised on transactions in more than 40 African jurisdictions. Our work is undertaken by specialist teams, based in South Africa, Tanzania, London, Paris and the Middle East. Our knowledge of and experience in transactions throughout Africa means that we have considerable knowledge of the local customs, practices and languages in a number of key African countries.
We have one of the largest commercial law operations in South Africa with more than 200 lawyers in our offices in Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg and our associate office in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
We have a leading practice in Francophone Africa, which is led by a specialist team based in Paris.
We operate both in civil law francophone jurisdictions and in common law-based jurisdictions across Africa.

Our depth of knowledge and expertise spans not only the African continent but also the mining axis between Canada, China, Australia and Africa as well as between the trading link between East Africa and India.
